Hi everyone! I hope you’re having an amazing weekend and enjoying it as much as possible! Weekends are so short! Anyways, I’m full of homework and tons of lectures for school and is just second week! Oh my, what’s waiting for me..?
We’re still at the beginning of the year, and the month. So I bet some of you are still looking forward to have that detox after the holidays! I’m not in favor to any type of detox that is unnatural and that could put your health at risk. That’s why I’ll tell about you the best natural tips for you to have a proper detox without any intense or extreme methods some people are used to do.
Forget what you think you know about detoxing: juice-only diets, colonics, and herbal supplements.. I don’t think so! Those are not the healthiest ways to cleanse the body. But after a period of overindulging, feeling lighter is what many probably want. Instead of going to extreme measures, you should opt for these five natural ways to detox the body to feel healthier, more energized, and focused!
1. Eliminate the Junk
I mean, first things first: remove certain foods from your diet — namely, the junk. After eliminating processed foods, refined carbs, red meats and sugar, you’ll have more energy through the day. Whether you are already vegan (two thumps up) or you’re still taking baby steps and just want to have a healthy detox, take an elimination diet a step further by cutting out gluten, dairy, caffeine, and alcohol for two weeks. While the first few days may feel painful, in no time at all, you’ll be feeling less bloated and more clearheaded.
2. Eat Clean, Whole, and Fresh
Now that you’ve removed the junk from your diet, focus on eating the “good-for-you” healthy foods: think whole, fresh, organic, and all-natural. I know sometimes is hard to find organic, but do your best! If not finding, don’t worry you’re still doing something great! Stock your kitchen with fresh fruits and veggies, this is number one of course and if you’re not raw, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds is ok to have there. Unlike processed foods, you’ll find that all-natural food is more nutrient-dense and free of preservatives and chemicals, which only spells happiness for your body. Try to make your plate look as colorful as possible: eating a rainbow of foods ensures you’re getting a variety of vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. If you’re making a salad try one of mine, the dressings are a hit!
3. Relax and Restore
Doing a detox isn’t just about food. You also want to rejuvenate your body in other ways. Since a good night’s rest is essential to repair and restore the body.
4. Get Active
To get your body on track, make sure that you’re up and moving. Regular exercise has dozens of benefits that go beyond weight loss: it increases energy, boots your mood, improves thinking, and helps prevent disease. After a period of lethargy and/or overindulging, exercise is one of the best ways to give yourself a makeover.
5. Hydrate the Right Way
The cornerstone to any good detox is water, lots of water. Staying hydrated helps prevent constipation and also wakes up your digestive system and liver, which is key to ridding the body of waste and toxins.
Well I hope you consider this healthy methods for a nice detox after the holidays, and try it not to be just for detox and actually keep it an habit! Eating this way is so amazing for your body, the environment and you!
Have tons of fun, off to study.. boo-hoo!
